The Scattered Star Seas gives the series a clean second beginning: new geography, island factions, demonic beasts, trade routes and the Heavenvoid Hall conflict. Han Li arrives with experience but without enough local power to control the region, so the story can expand without resetting him. I also think the ocean setting produces some of the archive's most distinctive visual opportunities.
